Barbadians will pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the two World Wars, at the annual Remembrance Day Parade and Inter-denominational Service on Sunday, November 9, at the Cenotaph, National Heroes Square, Bridgetown, commencing at 8:00 a.m.
Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and Chief Justice, Sir Marston Gibson, will lay wreaths, followed by other specially invited guests.
Armed units of the Barbados Defence Force’s Guard of Honour, the Barbados Coast Guard, the Royal Barbados Police Force and its Band, and the Barbados Cadet Corps, will be on parade.
Unarmed units will comprise members of the Barbados Fire Service, the Barbados Prison Service, the Barbados Girl Guides’ Association, the Band of the Barbados Cadet Corps, the St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, the Barbados Red Cross and the Barbados Boy Scouts Association.
A full rehearsal will be held for all armed and unarmed units on Sunday, November 2, in National Heroes Square, beginning at 8:00 a.m. (BGIS)

Sub. Officer Juanita Seale officially proceeded on pre-retirement leave on October 22 and will retire from the Barbados Fire Service on January 1, 2015 after 36 years of dedicated service. Juanita was one of the first women to join the Barbados Fire Service in 1979 and was last assigned to the Fire Prevention and Community Relations Unit.

Fire officers, family members and friends gathered at the St. Thomas Parish Church yesterday in a Service of Thanksgiving to celebrate the life of retired acting Divisional Officer Glanville Collins.
Collins a 43-year veteran firefighter died suddenly on September 28, and was an active member of the St. Philip West District Emergency Organisation and an ardent supporter of Spartan Cricket Club.
Regional firefighters are today gathering for the Caribbean Association of Fire Fighters (CAFF) 2014 Goodwill Games in Guyana. The Games are scheduled for Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, Georgetown according to a press release from the local organizers.
Nine countries have confirmed their participation in the Games, including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Island, French Guyana, Guyana, Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago and St. Lucia.
The Guyanese public and athletics fans are invited to come out and support the various countries which will be participating in the games, since it will showcase the different side of firefighters.
The event will be exciting and will be an opportunity for regional firefighters to showcase the lighter side of the fire service. It will also be an opportunity to build stronger relations among firefighters across the region.
The Goodwill Games were last held in Barbados in 2012.

A steady stream of fire officers and members of the public turned up to view the body of retired acting Divisional Officer Glanville Collins as it reposed at the Bridgetown Fire Station, Probyn Street, Bridgetown this morning.
The public viewing will conclude at 3:00 p.m. today. A Service of Thanksgiving will be held tomorrow Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the St. Thomas Parish Church at 3:30 p.m with the interment in the churchyard following the service.

Members of the public are advised that the administrative section of Barbados Fire Service headquarters, General Post Office Building, Cheapside, Bridgetown, will close at noon on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.
This early closure is to facilitate the attendance of staff at the funeral of former acting Divisional Officer Glanville Collins. The Barbados Fire Service regrets any inconvenience caused.

The funeral service for the late Glanville Collins former Station Officer of the Barbados Fire Service will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the St. Thomas Parish Church, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 3:30 p.m.
Viewing of the body will take place on Monday, October 20, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Bridgetown Fire Station, Probyn Street, St. Michael.

Station Officer Tyrone Trotman proceeded on pre-retirement leave on Wednesday (October 8) and will retire from the Barbados Fire Service on January 1, 2015 after 38 years of dedicated service. Trotman's last assignment was Deputy Officer-in-Charge of the Airport Fire Station, we extend best wishes to Tyrone and wish him well for the future.

After 34 years of dedicated service, Sub Officer Charles Holligan proceeded on pre-retirement leave on September 22 and will retire from the Fire Service on February 1, 2015. Holligan enlisted in the Barbados Fire Service on September 1, 1981 and was last assigned to the St. John Fire Station. We wish Charles all the best for the future.
